Deposits

 

   Deposits are required before room or car hire reservations are confirmed.  Room reservations will be

confirmed upon receipt of a deposit of 10 per room, for each night booked.  Car hire reservations
  will be confirmed upon receipt of 20 for any lenghth of hire less than 2 weeks, 50 for any
  length of hire greater than 2 weeks and less than 1 month or 100 for any length of hire  
    greater than 1 month.  When booking a hire car and a room, no deposit will be required for the hire
car.  
 

Deposits will be deducted from invoice payment or will be repaid if a written cancellation of

 

   the reservation is received at least 1 month before the date of arrival or the first date of car hire.

In the event of a cancellation within a month of a reservation Obsidian will retain the deposit.  Short  
notice reservations (within a month of the date of arrival or car hire) can be accepted with a  

    credit card payment of the deposit due.

Delayed Arrivals/Departures Policy

Ascension Island is a very isolated location and your journeys to or from Ascension may involve delays, so that either your visit to the Hotel starts later than intended or your departure from the Hotel may have to be postponed.

Any changes in your flights or sea journeys will be due to circumstances entirely beyond the Obsidian Hotel's control.  The Hotel's policies applicable to these occassions are set out below, but in summary the Obsidian Hotel is unable to provide monetary compensation for any alternations to your journeys to or from Ascension.  Given the unique circumstances of Ascension Island you may consider it worthwhile to acquire appropriate holiday insurance.

UNSCHEDULED ARRIVALS:

1. Obsidian staff will meet any delayed flight or sailing whenever it arrives on Ascension and will transfer Guests and their luggage to their accommodation.

2. Upon departure the Guest will be charged for the length of their entire original booking with the Hotel as; i) any delays will not have been caused by Obsidian and ii) Obsidian will have incurred costs to ensure that all pre-booked facilities will have been available for the entire period of any delay.

UNSCHEDULED DEPARTURES:

1. Upon unscheduled departure the Guest will be charged for the length of their entire original booking with the Hotel plus for the period of any delay in departure as i) any delays will not have been caused by Obsidian and ii) Obsidian will have provided all of its facilities for the Guest for the entire length of their original booking plus any delay.

2. Obsidian staff will meet any delayed flight or sailing whenever it arrives on Ascension and will transfer Guests and their luggage to their departure terminal for check-in.
